From Open Babel

There have been several releases of Open Babel. Each release has a separate page of release notes.

Versions are numbered in a systematic way:

• The last number is incremented to indicate stable bug-fix releases with no added features.
• The middle number is incremented to indicate new features and file formats, but will not break backwards-compatibility for developers.
• The first number indicates major changes to the library and tools.
